Turkey Meatballs in Chilli Tomato Sauce

These turkey meatballs are a lighter take on a classic comfort dish. Using extra lean turkey keeps it high in protein and low in fat, while the rich chilli tomato sauce brings warmth and flavour. It’s an easy, healthy dinner perfect for weeknights.

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
In a large bowl, combine turkey mince, grated onion, garlic, parsley, egg, oregano, and pepper. Mix well with your hands, form into golf-ball-sized balls, and place on the tray. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until firm and cooked through.
Meanwhile, spray a large saucepan with olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic, oregano, chilli flakes, and pepper, then cook for 2 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes and bolognese sauce. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat, cover with a lid and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the meatballs to the sauce and spoon the sauce over to coat. Serve with a garden salad or steamed greens.
